Daniel Craig: James Bond on hold

Reports The Associated Press:

Producers say work on the next James Bond film has been halted indefinitely because of uncertainty about the future of distributor Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli say development of the movie was suspended after MGM failed to find a buyer. They said late Monday they did not know when work would resume.

MGM put itself up for sale after a slump in DVD sales and a lack of hits left it unable to manage a $3.7 billion debt.

Wilson and Broccoli’s EON Productions has produced 22 Bond thrillers since 1962. The new film, known only as “Bond 23,” had been due for release in 2011 or 2012.

Bond actor Daniel Craig says he has confidence in the producers and looks forward to production resuming.

There are likely many reasons why young people might send such an electronic message.  Most teens have experiemented sexually, and it’s possible that sexting is just another available venue to do so.  For some, it could be a way of getting attention, for others a method of seduction or anther way to say, “I love you.”  The answer could be as simple as “because they can,” and some have suggested it is partially due to the proliferation (and therefore normalization) of sexual and sexualized images on the internet.

While most teens and young adults who send these photos may see it as a harmless flirty note, the potential ramifications are far greater, because once it is sent, the photo is a permanent record that is now out of the hands of the sender. Approximately 40% of teens say it is common for nude or semi-nude photos to get shared with people other than the intended recipient. In Ohio in 2008 a middle school girl sent a nude photo of herself to a boy she liked and the photo subsequently circulated throughout the middle and high school. The girls was suspended and then was taunted so viciously by her peers that she ended up hanging herself. In yet another example of where the photos might go, there are pornographic websites online devoted solely to sexting photos that include pictures of teens.

In addition to the potential lack of privacy, pornographic use, and exposure to humiliation, one of the other issues related to sexting by teens is that of child-pornography laws. Last year, shortly after he turned 18, a boy in Florida sent a naked photo of his 16 year old girlfriend (that she had taken and sent to him) to her friends and family after an argument. The result: he was convicted of sending child pornography, sentenced to five years probation, and required by Florida law to register as a sex offender.  More recently, the ACLU was able to block prosecution of three girls in Pennsylvania who had made risque photos of themselves that showed up on classmates cellphones.

Glover, along with 11 others, were charged with trespassing and released. They face fines up to $1,000 or 90 days in jail.

The actor appeared with members of the Service Employees International Union to protest what it calls the company’s unfair treatment of workers. Sodexo says the union is “spreading misinformation.”

Many names have surfaced over the years, including Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson, Mick Jagger, ex-husband James Taylor, et. al.

For the last day or so, the Internet has buzzed with rumors that Carly was singing about David Geffen, her music producer. Seems she was upset over his concentration more on the career of Joni Mitchell than hers.

Apparently, a re-release of the song has her whispering the name “David” in the song.

Then again, it could be David Geffen.

Carly’s not saying, even after all these years.

In a brief statement the company says it “no longer sees a role” for the golfer whose game is on hold because of a revelations of multiple affairs and entry into a sex rehab program.

In another matter, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) announced this weekend it is dropping its plans to use an image of Woods in a pet neutering ad campaign built around the theme of “too much sex can be a bad thing.”

PETA admitted it dropped the idea after meeting with attorneys for the golfer.

Ayla Brown

Ayla Brown, daughter of new Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, who posed semi-nude for Cosmopolitan Magazine in 1982, says is she and her sister want to pose nude their father “can’t say anything about it.”

In an interview with Megyn Kelly on Fox News Channel, the American Idol semi-finalist said her father opened the door for posing nude in magazines and if he can do it, so can she or her sister.

And it ain’t working.

In what could only charitably be called a monotone, Woods offered a wooden (pun intended) apology that lacked sincerity, believability or candor.

It came off for what it was…a callous attempt to play the media.

And from all indications, few bought it.

But Moore says she refuses to do nude scenes “if the story doesn’t call for it.”

However, it appears she does a lot of films where the story does call for it.

Rip Torn

Actor Rip Torn, who got drunk and broke into a bank in his hometown in January, was supposed to go to trial this week but his case was reset for March because of a “scheduling conflict.”

Torn, a veteran actor who appeared in “Men in Black” and many other films, has had several run-ins with the law because of his boozing.

In the meantime, Torn continues his stint in rehab.

But that happened in Oak Meadows Elementary School in Riverside County, California, after some parents didn’t like the idea that the dictionary included definitions of dirty things like oral sex.

After “considerable discussion,” The Los Angeles Times reports that a committee of parents, teachers and administrators recently decided to return the dictionary to the fourth and fifth grade classrooms at the school.

Reports The Times:

“The dictionary will go back to the classroom but the parents will be given the option to determine if they want their kids to have access to that dictionary,” said Betti Cadmus, a spokeswoman for the Menifee Union School District in southwest Riverside County. Students will take permission slips home and parents who don’t want them to use Webster’s10th Collegiate Edition can opt for alternative dictionaries.
