Daniel Craig: James Bond on hold

Reports The Associated Press:

Producers say work on the next James Bond film has been halted indefinitely because of uncertainty about the future of distributor Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli say development of the movie was suspended after MGM failed to find a buyer. They said late Monday they did not know when work would resume.

MGM put itself up for sale after a slump in DVD sales and a lack of hits left it unable to manage a $3.7 billion debt.

Wilson and Broccoli’s EON Productions has produced 22 Bond thrillers since 1962. The new film, known only as “Bond 23,” had been due for release in 2011 or 2012.

Bond actor Daniel Craig says he has confidence in the producers and looks forward to production resuming.

Glover, along with 11 others, were charged with trespassing and released. They face fines up to $1,000 or 90 days in jail.

The actor appeared with members of the Service Employees International Union to protest what it calls the company’s unfair treatment of workers. Sodexo says the union is “spreading misinformation.”

Many names have surfaced over the years, including Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson, Mick Jagger, ex-husband James Taylor, et. al.

For the last day or so, the Internet has buzzed with rumors that Carly was singing about David Geffen, her music producer. Seems she was upset over his concentration more on the career of Joni Mitchell than hers.

Apparently, a re-release of the song has her whispering the name “David” in the song.

Then again, it could be David Geffen.

Carly’s not saying, even after all these years.

But Moore says she refuses to do nude scenes “if the story doesn’t call for it.”

However, it appears she does a lot of films where the story does call for it.

Rip Torn

Actor Rip Torn, who got drunk and broke into a bank in his hometown in January, was supposed to go to trial this week but his case was reset for March because of a “scheduling conflict.”

Torn, a veteran actor who appeared in “Men in Black” and many other films, has had several run-ins with the law because of his boozing.

In the meantime, Torn continues his stint in rehab.

The new court date is March 9

ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel

Late night comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who nailed Jay Leno for his poor handling of the Conan O’Brien – Tonight Show debacle in the early days of the fiasco, delivered another roundhouse punch in responding to Leno’s claim that Kimmel “sucker punched” him.

Says Kimmell:

If I made any mistake, the mistake I made was thinking Jay would have anything other to say than what was written on the cue cards. I figured he’d get into it and mix it up. You know, at one time he was a comedian. But he just stood there, kind of reading through the questions like a robot and then goes off and rats me out to Oprah.

Rip Torn: A few drinks too many

Rip Torn was so intoxicated when he broke into a Connecticut bank carrying a loaded gun that he thought he was home, taking off his hat and boots and leaving them by the door, according to court records.

The 78-year-old actor was wearing the same battered boots Monday when he was arraigned on several charges after spending the weekend in a police holding cell near his hometown of Salisbury, in northwestern Connecticut.

Torn, who did not enter a plea, was released on $100,000 bond a few hours later and waded through a phalanx of media to a friend’s waiting vehicle. He smiled and wished onlookers a nice day but did not answer questions about the arrest.

He is expected to enter an alcohol rehabilitation center in New York as early as Tuesday, according to his attorney.

Seems the actress (and wife of Michael Douglas) liked to do her garden work and run around naked when the family lived in Bermuda.

But since moving to New York to do a play, Jones says she can’t go wandering hither and yon in the buff.

“It’s just not something one does in Central Park,” she told David Letterman.

Letterman disagreed, saying people run naked around Central Park all the time.

An emotional Conan O’Brien has bid adieu to NBC, saying that walking away from US television’s long-running “The Tonight Show” was the most difficult decision of his life.

At times fighting back tears, O’Brien thanked his legions of fans Friday night for making “a sad situation joyous and inspirational,” urging them to fight cynicism over the ugly public feud that ended his seven-month tenure at the legendary late-night comedy show.

The audience at Universal Studios in Burbank, California replied in kind, giving him a standing ovation and chanting “Conan! Conan! Conan!” repeatedly.

After an experiment placing the funnyman’s predecessor in prime time garnered meager ratings and frustrated the network’s affiliates, NBC television announced it would bring Jay Leno back to the show he hosted for 17 years.

The settlement landed O’Brien a reported 45-million-dollar buyout — with the red-haired comedian pocketing around 32 million and the balance going to his staff — in a bid by NBC to end what has been a public relations disaster once and for all.

But during his last monologue for the show, the embattled host even found time to thank NBC, a network he has called home for over 20 years.

“Yes, we have our differences right now and yes, we’re going to go our separate ways,” he went on.

“But this company has been my home for most of my adult life. I am enormously proud of the work we have done together, and I want to thank NBC for making it all possible.”
