Who was so vain in Carly’s life?

After 38 years, people still wonder who Carly Simon was singing about in her 1973 hit song “You’re so vain.”

Many names have surfaced over the years, including Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson, Mick Jagger, ex-husband James Taylor, et. al.

For the last day or so, the Internet has buzzed with rumors that Carly was singing about David Geffen, her music producer. Seems she was upset over his concentration more on the career of Joni Mitchell than hers.

Apparently, a re-release of the song has her whispering the name “David” in the song.

Then again, it could be David Geffen.

Carly’s not saying, even after all these years.
