Aftermath

The death knell continues to klang for the Bush Administration and the Republican Party's hopes for the midterm elections in 2006. Democrats rub their hands in glee but need to remember that the midterms are still a year away and that can be a lifetime in politics.

Still, the tide in America seems to be turning. The Demcratic gubernatorial win in Virginia seems especially big given Bush's incredibly stupid decision to rush in there and campaign for Republican Jerry Kilgore at the last minute. This marks the second time in two straight elections that normally GOP-leaning Virginia has gone the other way.

There's no doubt that Bush and his party are in free fall. They are so desperate to reverse their sagging fotunes that one GOP memo even touts a new terrorist attack on U.S. soil as a way to save the party.

But politics, and national mood, operates on a pendulum that swings both ways. Time can be an asset to those in trouble.

Please check into this...if true...it clearly points AGAIN that this administration IS behind 9/11:

GOP insiders who have seen the memo admit it’s a risky strategy and point out that such scenarios are “blue sky thinking” that often occurs in political planning sessions.
A confidential memo circulating among senior Republican leaders suggests that a new attack by terrorists on U.S. soil could reverse the sagging fortunes of President George W. Bush as well as the GOP and "restore his image as a leader of the American people."

The closely-guarded memo lays out a list of scenarios to bring the Republican party back from the political brink, including a devastating attack by terrorists that could “validate” the President’s war on terror and allow Bush to “unite the country” in a “time of national shock and sorrow.”
