A Washington Post-ABC News poll says most Americans believe President Bush should meet with antiwar protest mother Cindy Sheehan, whose son died in Dubya's failed Iraq war.
Don't count on it happening. Bush is an stubborn, arrogant SOB who seldom does the right thing. He'd rather show his "resolve," which delights the lemmings who follow him but violates every other code of common sense, decency and logical leadership.
In 40-plus years as a journalist, I've seen a lot of the temporary residents of the White House come and go. I used to think Lyndon Baines Johnson topped the list for arrogance and an incapacity to feel anything for the people he pledged to serve but Bush easily toppled LBJ.
Interesting that both of these assholes came from Texas? Like they say, everything is bigger in Texas -- even bastards.

I have been signing up for the Capitol hill
Blue, but I never hear from anyone . Please see that I get your news letter. Thank You. Evelyn
Texas has plenty of people with integrity. It's just that the Texas mafia keeps them from positions of responsibility.
Bush is scary. Most of the people who bother to follow the Republicans recognize a bunch of vicious psychopaths when they see them. The Republican party isn't the party of treason for nothing.
Texas residents include Molly Ivins, Willie Nelson, and the late Steve Ray Vaughn to Tom DeLay, Ken Lay, and the late Lee Harvey Oswald. Yes, everything from artistic talent to nefariousness may be bigger in Texas, but I think the real "W" equation is of the"All hat and no cattle" variety: Bush is simply a man who is all about pedigree and personal connections yet has no personal character whatsoever.
At least LBJ, as arrogant and crass as he was, could point to some accomplishments which served the cause of social justice such as the Civil Rights and the voting rights legislation. Bush, when his 2d term expires, won't have any redeeming accomplishments to look back on. In fact he will have caused the nation to regress with bankruptcy, Medicare and tort "reform" legislation, not to mention tax breaks for the wealthy. If Bush has a twin in the department of insensitivity for the less fortunate, it would be Nixon, hands down.
I understand Bush commendeered some 6K Louisana National Guards for his "Dirty Little War" in Iraq - leaving New Orleans unprotected in this emergency. Also I've heard that Bush in prior years had agreed to a financial aid package so New Orleans could rebuild the levies that protect the City. The funds were to be spread over several years. The first year was funded and the work begun. The other years were "cancelled" - so Bush could use those funds for Iraq. If this is true, I must fault Bush for the New Orleans devistation and deaths. The levies simply WEREN'T viable in their current, somewhat improved condition - the city AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT knew it. And where were the FREE buses - to transport the some 80K who weren't able to pay? Did many of them REALLY have to pay with their lives? elgee
